Jude Maboné | Miss DC 2023Education: B.A. International Studies - American University
Community Service Initiative: Check Your Heart Talent: Opera - Vocal Jude Maboné was crowned Miss District of Columbia on June 10th, 2023. She is the proud daughter of two U.S. Navy veterans, a passionate advocate for heart health and athlete safety, a philanthropist, a talented vocalist, and the entrepreneur behind Old Flames Candle Company. Jude’s remarkable journey began with an expected diagnosis of heart disease as a teenager after surviving six heart attacks. This profound experience ignited her passion for heart health equity. She has since raised over $42,000 for the American Heart Association, led CPR and AED trainings, and lobbied in the House of Representatives for increased medical research funding for the National Institutes of Health’s National Heart

Lung and Blood Institute. Throughout her year as Miss DC Jude continued to work tirelessly to advance heart health equity throughout the nation in partnership with MedStar Health, the American Heart Association, the National Institutes of Health, and Simon’s Heart. Her efforts took her work to New York, Alaska, Missouri and even internationally.
Jude’s inspiring story of survival and advocacy has been featured by major news outlets, including a prominent feature story by CNN. She was recognized by the American Heart Association of the Greater Washington Region as the 2023 Leader of Impact and was named one of the Most Inspiring Women in Alexandria, Virginia by VIP Magazine.
In addition to her work in health equity, Jude is a dedicated volunteer with several organizations throughout the District of Columbia most notably the Honor Flight Network where she dedicates significant time. When she’s not fiercely advocating, working, volunteering, or singing, Jude enjoys pampering her beloved dog, Waffle, running through Rock Creek Park, and exploring DC’s vibrant restaurant scene.
Despite facing significant health challenges, Jude ran four years of Division I cross country and track at American University where she graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in International Studies. She is now poised to embark on a new chapter, pursuing an MBA at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business with the prestigious Dean’s Fellows full-tuition merit scholarship.
